Julie Smith is a flutist, pianist, and director in the Rochester, NY area. She is Worship Arts Director at Pearce Memorial Church where she conducts various ensembles, including choir and worship teams. She previously served for ten years as the director of the Hochstein School of Music Scholarship Flute Choir. Julie is an active chamber musician in and around Rochester, having performed as a member of the Hochstein faculty woodwind quintet, Fem Vindar, and serves as a collaborative pianist for professionals and students in the area.
Julie holds two degrees in music; a M.M. in Flute Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a B.S. in Music Education from Roberts Wesleyan College (both summa cum laude). She has won several competitions, including student concerto competitions at both schools and the Rochester Flute Association’s Young Artist Competition (collegiate, adult divisions). Julie currently resides in Rochester with her husband, trumpeter Roy Smith, and their sons James, Owen, and Felix.
