Clarinetist Sandra Halberstadt is a member of the Vista Philharmonic Orchestra. As an active freelancer in New England, she performs with the Rhode Island Philharmonic, Portland Symphony (Maine), Springfield Symphony, Vermont Symphony, and the Lexington Symphony. She has played with Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, Opera Providence, Festival Ballet Providence, and the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra. She can be heard on the Boston Philharmonic recording of Mahler Symphony No. 6 on the IMP Masters label. Her festival orchestra appearances include principal clarinet of the Heidelberg Castle Festival in Heidelberg, Germany, and the Aspen Music Festival. As a member of the Hanson Woodwind Quintet, she has twice been a prizewinner at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, receiving the gold medal in 1993 and the bronze in 1992. The Hanson Wind Quintet was also a prizewinner at the Carmel International Chamber Music Competition in 1993. Sandra received the Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music where she was a student of Peter Hadcock. She has also studied with Tom Martin, John Bruce Yeh, Richard Waller, and Howard Klug.
