2025 ANNUAL REPORT

Training Musicians | Nurturing Faith | Changing Lives

Praise God for all He has done through the Csehy community in 2025. The impact on our campers is made possible through the faculty, counselors, and staff, but also through the support, and especially the prayer and encouragement of parents, grandparents, alumni, and generous donors. Our 63rd season was marked by the launch of the first Csehy hymnal ... a tangible representation of how music and faith have been interwoven in our community for 6 decades, and a legacy of the testimony which has been passed from one generation to another.

Graeme Burgan, Executive Director

"Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." Ephesians 5:19-20

I wanted to send a note of gratitude to you for your generous donation, allowing me to go to Csehy this past summer for High School week one. I had a wonderful time filled with singing, violin playing, ultimate frisbee, meals at the cafeteria, uplifting conversations, time in God’s Word, and worship to Him… Music is a special part of my life, and Csehy has grown my love for it even more… These are just a few of the very special opportunities the Lord gave me at Csehy this past summer, and He used you to help me experience them. Your generosity is very much appreciated, and I praise the Lord for you and your kindness!
— Camper 2023-2025
I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the financial aid you provided that allowed my daughter to attend the summer music school. The unexpected loss of my job has been difficult, yet the Lord has been so kind and near through this season. And His kindness has been expressed through you, as well! We love Csehy because of your commitment to excellence in the arts that is centered on Christ, so we were eager to see our daughter participate for her final high school year. Thank you for making it attainable for her and for our family! Your generosity has truly been a gift, and it means so much to see her thriving and pursuing her passion for music.

The need for a Csehy Hymnal has been discussed for perhaps 30 years. Early on, the question was why, when there are so many good hymnals, would we take the time and spend the money needed to take on such a project? As time passed and worship styles evolved away from singing hymns and using physical hymnals in churches, the need seemed to become more and more urgent. When our long-time hymnals (donated by then camp nurse, Janice Esposito, and her church in the early 2000s) began to fall apart, and a method whereby we could create our own in a cost-effective manner coincided, we took up the challenge. Special thanks should be given to Evelyn Larter, who attempted such a project, on a limited basis, a number of years ago. The Csehy family has always been a singing one, so what hymns would we include and what would we leave out? We immediately decided that the hymnal would have around 300 hymns and that it would be inclusive of all the eras of Csehy, going back to the early 1960s.  We would try to set aside personal preference and think about hymns and songs that had been important to the Csehy family over those many years, while also including some of the best of new hymnody. I like to think that all members of the Csehy family will be reminded of their years with us while paging through the hymnal. I would also like to think that Uncle Wilmos and Aunt Gladys would be pleased with the effort we have made.

2025 HIGHLIGHT:
THE SING! CONFERENCE

We’re proud to celebrate Csehy’s vibrant involvement at the Sing! 2025 Conference. From reconnecting with inspiring alumni to sponsoring the powerful 500-voice Sing Choir, the week was filled with meaningful connections and unforgettable music-making. Our contribution in leading hymn sings and pop-up choirs brought singers together in joyful, spontaneous music-making, capturing the heart of the conference. It was a beautiful reminder of the Csehy spirit—rooted in community, creativity, and the shared love of worship.

Alumni Weekend Recap

Last summer’s annual Csehy Alumni Weekend, held on July 18–19, was filled with music, memories, and meaningful moments together. The clear highlight of the weekend was the official launch of the Csehy Hymnal. Alumni, campers, and staff packed Chatlos Chapel to capacity for a truly glorious, all-camp Singtime. Voices representing generations rose in unison, offering a powerful reminder of what makes Csehy so special: shared music, shared faith, and shared joy.

The weekend also featured an alumni luncheon and Singtime, a spirited camper vs. alumni ultimate frisbee match, and a concert presented by Csehy students. Throughout the weekend, alumni reflected on the ways Csehy shaped their lives, laughed over favorite camp memories, and celebrated the lasting bonds formed through music and faith. Many thanks to everyone who joined us, helped organize the weekend, and supported the hymnal launch. Click here to order your own copy of the Csehy Hymnal.

Snack Bar Contributions

In preparation for the 2025 summer season, a dedicated team of Csehy alumni volunteers stepped forward to organize and operate the camp snack bar, creating a daily hub of energy, conversation, and connection. Thanks to their hard work and a generous supply of donated treats, students and staff enjoyed mid-day refreshments during free time throughout the week. But this effort was about more than snacks—it became a gathering place. Campers lingered, laughed, and connected with teachers and staff over granola bars and goodies, transforming a simple break into a meaningful opportunity for community building. Even better, all proceeds from snack sales were donated to the Csehy Student Scholarship Fund, helping open doors for future young musicians.

A sincere thank-you to our alumni volunteers for making the snack bar possible, for cultivating a welcoming space for campers, and for giving back in a way that was both joyful and impactful. Reach out to alumni@csehy.org if you’d like to be involved with the Csehy 2026 snack bar.

2026 ALUMNI EVENTS

Csehy is where I was first saved and introduced to the gospel. It is a place where I was given love and friendship before I gave it and accepted despite my different background. I was one of those weird kids; those who knew too much Lord of the Rings trivia and couldn’t let different foods touch on their dinner plate were my people. I arrived at camp not having known any of God’s word, but the friendship and care poured into me and opened my heart to more than I could ever imagine. I want many more generations to feel and know that same thing, and I think that is a worthy goal to steer towards. I am blessed to have been a camper, and moved to have been chosen as a counselor, and then a board member. Supporting Csehy in whatever ways I am able is my way of giving back with the same measure that it was given to me, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. However small my individual contributions may be, I give it gladly.
