Kenneth Borrmann is Dean and Chair of Keyboard Studies in the School of Music at Cairn University. He is also the director of the Cairn University Handbell Choir. Mr. Borrmann holds a B.S. in Bible and a B.Mus. in piano performance from Cairn University and a M.M. in piano performance from West Chester University. He is active as an accompanist and chamber music collaborator in the Philadelphia area performing works from the early Baroque to the present. His solo piano recitals have featured the works of Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Brahms and Rachmaninoff. In October 2011, as part of the dedication of the new Steinway concert grand, he performed the Piano Concerto No.1 by Prokofiev with the Cairn Symphony Orchestra. Other performances with the CSO have included concertos by Grieg and Brahms. The annual Piano Day for high school and junior high school pianists at Cairn is organized by Mr. Borrmann who also serves as a clinician for the event.
Mr. Borrmann was also active as a church music director for over 30 years and has conducted major portions of Handel’s Messiah on several occasions. He serves on the faculty of the Csehy Summer School of Music teaching piano and for 10 years was the conductor the Csehy choir. Mr. Borrmann studied piano with Dr. Samuel Hsu, Benjamin Whitten and has most recently been a student of Martin Canin of the Juilliard School.
