Layne Anspach is a performer, educators, and arts administrator, residing in Bloomington, Indiana. As a performer, Layne is active in a variety of performance avenues. As a chamber musician, he performs in various ensembles. Layne founded and manages Ivory Winds, a mixed chamber ensemble of piano and winds, which performs lesser known works for the instrumentation. Recently, he has participated in performances for the following instrumentation: trio for two horns and piano; quintet for piano, clarinet, horn, violin, and cello; and trio for horn, tuba, and piano. Additionally, he has experience with a variety of other ensemble configurations, including brass and wind quintets, trio for horn, violin, and piano, and horn ensembles. In addition to chamber music, Layne performs regularly as a freelance musician in orchestras across the Midwest. He is currently the 4th horn in the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra. An avid recitalist, Anspach has performed dozens of unique recitals around the U.S. Layne is currently a visiting lecturer in chamber music at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He previously was the adjunct instructor of horn at Valparaiso University. Layne maintains a private studio. Additionally, Layne enjoys researching historical contexts for chamber music and horn literature. His research interests focus on lesser known and under appreciated works. Anspach has presented lectures nationally and internationally on the topics. While not focusing on music, Anspach enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include fishing, hiking, traveling, and watching Cubs baseball.
